Becca Terpenning is Project Manager and Technical Director currently based out of New Haven, CT where she is in her final year in Graduate School earning an MFA in Technical Design & Production at Yale School of Drama.  She has been pursuing a career in technical management since her time spent earning a BFA at Ithaca College with a focus on technical direction. Spending 3 years working as a carpenter and drafter in New York City, prior to attending graduate school, she spent that time experiencing as many different types of entertainment installs and builds as possible. She has spent her time studying different management and leadership techniques, fueling her passion for  efficiency and company culture.

My Professional Philosophy centers around facilitation, planning, and improvisation. These three elements tie together, the root of improvisation is meticulous planning, defining objectives and resources, guiding strategies, facilitating colleagues’ work, setting clear standards, and having multiple plans. I have developed my own strategies to achieve harmony between these elements through my management experiences. I believe an effective manager must never stop at what seems to be a dead end, never say no to ideas, and do whatever is necessary to make the artistic vision of the project be realized.

  • Facilitating, the work of others. Creating a work environment that sets people up for success, and making sure the conversation that need to happen are happening.
  • Planning. Defining objectives, guiding strategies, defining resources, making the schedule, setting understood standards, and always having multiple plans.
  • Improvisation. Thinking on your feet, finding the next step when the one planned goes wrong, always have multiple plans
